Today, in a Tampa, FL small claims court, En Fuego Studios, Inc won a default judgment against Galaxy Pageants, Inc in a breech of contract case. This ends an almost year long chapter of En Fuego Studios, Inc ("Studios") relationship with Galaxy Pageants, Inc ("Galaxy"). Galaxy had contracted Studios to produce, sell, and distribute DVD's of their 2009 Galaxy International and Belleza Latina pageants, held at the Saddlebrook Resort July 10-12, 2009, to any delegates who would order the DVD. This episode started when Galaxy, represented by its owner Maria Torres, was in violation of their contractual obligations by not adhering to Studios' payment schedule; which required a payment installment after completion of principle video production. After an initial rough cut given to Galaxy, Studios delayed any more versions of any DVD's to Galaxy for revision until the installment had been paid, but never stopped editing the final DVD for the 18 orders that were placed. When the DVD was completed, Galaxy was sent to collections via Ethan & Associates, who were unsuccessful in retaining the balance of the contract. Studios refundedthe money for all of the delegates who ordered the DVD in January 2010.
The resulting lawsuit was filed January 26, 2010. Galaxy was served their summons but failed to appear in court.
Upon getting the official written notice from thecourt, Studios will contact the people who had previously ordered the DVD on how to acquire their copy, and release the DVD's for sale through the Studios website.
