What is the difference between a videographer and a production company?

Good question!   “Videographers” are usually video freelancers that will come shoot the day of your project and then produce a final product for you.  They may work alone or have an assistant, and use one or two cameras and sometimes tend to work autonomously amongst each other and the client during the project.  A production company works kind of like a home building general contractor so to speak.  They would help plan and design the house, “preproduction”, hire the right people to build it, “production”,  and then when its finished, furnish and paint the house, post production”.  All the time working with the client to make sure that its exactly what they wanted, in order for them to take delivery of the finished product.

Which one is Studios?

Studios is a production company that works with our clients throughout the production life cycle for both video and photography.  We take pride in collaborating with our clients to help them achieve their ideal videos and pictures.   Studios can also provide portion of service throughout the life cycle, typically this happens when we work with ad agencies or other production companies.

Why should I pay more if my video is only going on the Internet?

We get this a lot.  In order for consistency in quality, there is no real difference in the production life cycle whether your video lives on the Internet, television, or a DVD.  All of the same steps will be taken in order to produce a quality video.  The things that may be different would be the services provided in each step of the life cycle and delivery format.  Since each production is different, we provide custom services for each project, but we  produce our videos in the highest quality available in order to ensure that our clients can get the maximum use and most bang for their buck.  Just because it’s done for one format doesn’t mean that we can’t use the same footage or video for another.

Why does High Definition cost more than Standard Definition?

At Studios, we shoot everything in High Definition, and then depending on how its delivered, we can down convert to Standard Definition.  With the technology readily available, we feel that HD is the standard and don’t charge a premium for the service.
